Flavor Description

Granja La Esperanza, located in Trujillo, Valle del Cauca at 1,650–1,900 m elevation, is one of South America's most internationally acclaimed farms, having placed in the top three of CoE Colombia multiple times (Source: Alliance for Coffee Excellence, CoE Colombia historical results).

This washed Geisha lot opens with an extraordinarily complex dry aroma of jasmine, orange blossom, and bergamot. On the palate: delicate white-peach sweetness, bright citrus-juice-like acidity, a white-tea-like transparency, and a long, honey-water finish.

Market Presence

  • Taiwan: Simple Kaffa, Fika Fika Cafe and other top specialty roasters have sourced lots from this estate
  • USA: Intelligentsia Coffee, Counter Culture Coffee, and Onyx Coffee Lab have import records

Variety Background

Geisha originates from the Gori Gesha forests of Ethiopia and was popularized by Hacienda La Esmeralda in Panama. According to the SCA Variety Catalog, Geisha holds a unique position in the specialty world for its unmatched floral complexity.

Brewing Notes

  • Pour-over: Medium-fine grind, water temperature 90–91°C, ratio 1:16
  • Tip: Allow the cup to cool to around 60°C before drinking — the floral layers become even more expressive
