Flavor Description

Bright grapefruit and orange acidity open the cup, moving into redcurrant and plum with caramel and brown-sugar sweetness, a juicy mouthfeel, and a light black-tea finish. It has Kenya's signature brightness, with rounder acidity than top Nyeri or Kirinyaga lots.

Buying Tips

  • AB grade: Kenya grades by bean size — AA is screen 17–18+, AB is screen 15–16. The flavor difference is small
  • Cooperative lots: Murang'a coffee is mostly washed at smallholder cooperative factories, and bags often name the factory
  • Freshness: The main harvest runs roughly October to January, with new crop reaching Asian markets in spring and summer

Brewing Notes

  • Pour-over: Medium-fine grind, 91–92°C, ratio 1:15
  • Iced: The bright citrus and berry sweet-tartness becomes even more refreshing when chilled
