Faint white florals and honey on the dry aroma; crisp orange and lemon acidity on entry; honey and caramel sweetness through the middle; a medium, clean body; and a finish of milk chocolate with a light black-tea note.
Buying Tips
Java variety: An Ethiopian landrace that traveled via Indonesia; in the 20th century it was selected and promoted in Cameroon for its resistance to coffee berry disease, and only later reached Central America as a specialty variety
Region: The volcanic soils and high altitude of the Northwest highlands give Cameroonian arabica bright fruit acidity and florals
Production: Cameroon grows mostly robusta; arabica is a small share, mainly from the western and northwestern highlands
