Caramel and faint florals on the dry aroma; soft, bright red-plum and orange acidity on entry; honey and brown-sugar sweetness through the middle; a medium, clean body; and a finish of milk chocolate with a light black-tea note.
Buying Tips
Region: Northern Province and Muchinga lie in northeastern Zambia near the Tanzanian border; the cool plateau is farmed mostly by large estates with modern growing and processing
AA grade: As in its East African neighbors, coffee is graded by bean size, with AA the largest
Production: Zambia's coffee output is small; copper dominates the economy, and coffee is one of the crops promoted to diversify it
Brewing Notes
Pour-over: Medium-fine grind, 91–92°C, ratio 1:15
Iced: The red-fruit and citrus sweet-tartness stays clear when chilled
