Flavor Description
“Sunrise Nile” comes from the Chelchele area of Yirgacheffe and is spring-water washed. Jasmine, ginger lily, and bergamot lead the aroma, followed by the bright sweetness of Muscat grape, peach, and passion fruit. Lemongrass, floral honey, and Earl Grey emerge later in a clean, delicate cup with a long finish.
Variety and Competition
This lot features the floral Welisho variety, one of Ethiopia's many local landraces and therefore categorized here as Heirloom. It placed second in Ethiopia's washed category at the 2024 Taste of Harvest competition.
Brewing Notes
- Pour-over: Medium-fine grind, 92–93°C, ratio 1:16
- Technique: Use gentle, steady pulse pours to preserve the white florals and define the grape and tea-like notes
